The Path To Becoming a Maxillofacial Surgeon

As a kid, you are always asked what you want to be when you grow up. Many children have wild dreams of becoming a king or an astronaut. Some have more attainable ideals, like the president or a surgeon. If you were a kid that grew up wanting to become a doctor or surgeon and are now looking to go into school on such a career path, it might be time for you to choose what kind of surgery to go into. A lesser-known type of surgeon is a maxillofacial surgeon. In this video, you will learn how you can become one.

You obviously have to first finish your undergrad education and get a degree in science. After that, you will head to dental school and go through another four years of that. You will then need to apply and be accepted to a residency, which may or may not involve more schooling. You will do medical, ICU, anesthesia, and other types of rotations so you can learn a lot about many different branches of medicine.

After that, you will apply to jobs in hopes of getting one. Once you have been accepted at a hospital, congratulations! You have successfully taken the path to becoming a maxillofacial surgeon.
