Ever Wonder How You Get News so Quickly?

Tired of waiting for the newspaper to arrive each morning just to see that the top stories are already old news? Do not want to wait for the news to be on at night to catch the latest hot topics? RSS, commonly referred to as rich site summary or really simple syndication, is a way for news sources to keep internet users constantly updated on what is important. RSS sites are made up of a family of web feeds that bring the information right to the user. As such, the user does not need to visit each news website individually.

RSS syndication is the process by which a website sends its content to other sites to have it displayed there. This is a way to get the original RSS sites visits by displaying their news content or blogs around other websites to get better known, and it gets the receiving sites more views by displaying so many different stories from other websites. Syndication is an easy form of advertisement that is often free and generates new traffic for both sides of the content transmission.

Current forms of RSS, such as RSS feeds, are more popular than web syndication used to be. The first forms of syndication, which are not used anymore, relied on their ability to work with only one service. While this was a great starting point, this transformed into multiple RSS sites working with other sites, which essentially created an entire network of feeds for users.

This is not only related to news, either. Anybody with a blog has the opportunity to have their feed featured on different websites. All a person would need to do is register his or her blog on different websites, specifically blog directories, in order to get him or her out there and generate traffic. It may also make the website higher ranked on search engines, too.

People may take their ability to get news quickly for granted, but a lot of work and communication must go into providing these services to users. Marketing and advertising Rss feeds involves multiple websites all working together to deliver stories faster to users. Without such an advance in technology, would we still be waiting an entire day to get our news?

  • I never really thought about this before. There are so many things that are provided to us that I never think about, I just am glad it is there for me. This is one of those things. I think news channels use it too to stay up to date.
